Greetings to a wonderful new year in 2019!

2018 – Recap: 2018 was a fantastic and busy year for me. While taking on new responsibilities as my companies’ System Admin, I’ve taken quite a reprieve from writing or sharing. In fact, I’ve let go of Facebook all together. I stopped following all, but our president on Twitter. On LinkedIn, I still hold on to my account as if it’s some portal to better greatness, but it’s not. Craigslist has more value than all three combined.

And just as well. 2019 happens to be the year of the Piggy. And piggy I have been in my lack of focus or lack of ambition. I let go of Facebook and didn’t replace it with another source of digital correspondence. Also, I’m not free of reliance on Google’s services & AWS. While this website remains independent of those platforms, I have gone hopelessly lost in both companies’ cloud products, even considering migrating this blog over to an EC2 or GCP instance & dockerizing it. However, I don’t have ample trust in either corporation to do so yet.

Rather I think a better use of time would be to use this year, to reflect using the goal of “Unlinking yourself” and writing about how to find or create better alternatives to the services that don’t have our interests at heart.

Project unlink – (we’ll use this for now), a journey towards finding a path out of the cloud jungle without compromising the convenience therein.

Next Up should be a roadmap…
